Abstract

Communication skills are an integral part of health education. Good communication skills are targeted towards developing trust and faith, between doctor and patient. The nonverbal communications are very effective. Members of faculty who are untrained often unable to accurately identify their skill deficiencies and feel uncomfortable while performing and giving feedback. But the recent Pandemic of COVID-19 is forcing us to change the way the health workers need to work. These are essential for the safety of both Health care providers (HCP) and Patients and their relatives. We articulate that the new nontouch communication should include a certain modification in the communication skills. The new normal in the COVID-19 Pandemic and Post pandemic situation would be the barriers in place, for safety of both the HCP and Patients including avoidance to touch. We should adopt modifications in style of communications, considering these barriers. It is important that HCP should consider all patients are potential/ suspected corona effected. No one should act and appear like a Robot with the PPE, but should be a concerned & compassionate human; behind these barriers. Though behind the mask, but smiles have power to penetrate these barriers, so it should always be worn. A sincere smile is the most effective communication, even with these barriers.
