Analysis of the Presentation and Manifestations of Tuberculosis in the Elderly and Young Patients: An Observational Comparative Study

Abstract

Tuberculosis behaves differently in elderly population compared to young population to such an extent that it should be considered as entirely different disease entity. Delay in diagnosis causes threat to the patient as well as to the community by spreading infection. In this study 100 patients; 50 elderly patients of age > 60 years and 50 young patients of tuberculosis were compared in relation to symptoms and presentation.
