Radiologist and radiological techniques are an integral part of forensic examination in medicolegal cases (MLC). In a MLC, in addition to treatment, injury report is prepared and, invariably, injuries are kept under radiological examinations. A radiologist is required to perform, interpret and make reports of these radiological examinations. Radiologist report about the presence or absence of bony/soft tissue injury decides the nature of injury as simple, grievous or dangerous to life. And then accordingly case is registered against the accused under various sections of Indian Penal Code.
To study the profile of patients with Medicolegal injuries from Radiologist point of view.
Material for the present study consists of 92 MLCs reported by radiologists at Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bathinda, Punjab, a private medical college, for duration of 6 years, from 1 January 2006 to 31 December 2011. Particulars of the cases were noted from the medicolegal register maintained at the Department of Radiodiagnosis.
