Abstract

We report an unusual case of foreign body in subcutaneous plane in nape of neck in 1-month-old infant. Infant was brought by parents for excessive crying with swelling in the neck. After radiological examination it was a found to be a broken hypodermic needle, which was removed under anaesthesia. Although soft tissue cervical foreign bodies are uncommon and their management defies standardisation, the case reported here and those in the literature demonstrate the importance of a methodical approach to a paediatric neck mass.
