Abstract

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia is a rare benign lesion of vascular origin. Histologically, it mimics angiosarcoma and needs to be differentiated from the latter as the treatment and prognosis differ. We report a case of 21-year-old female with intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia of left antecubital vein having a history of a longstanding indwelling intravenous catheter. On review of the literature, we did not find any report of an endothelial hyperplasia being caused by intravenous line left in situ for a prolonged interval of time.
