Multiple anomalies in abdominal vasculature-a case report

During a routine undergraduate dissection of the abdomen of a 50-year-old male cadaver, multiple anomalies of vasculature were seen, viz. retro-aortic left renal vein, left suprarenal vein draining into the inferior vena cava instead of left renal vein, tortuosity of two common iliac arteries, early division of right renal artery into segmental branches near its origin from aorta, right segmental renal arteries entering right kidney anterior to right renal vein and right accessory renal artery. Such multiple vascular anomalies occurring concurrently in the same person are extremely rare and may pose danger to his life if the surgeon operating on him is not aware of these. Ontogeny and clinical implications of all these variations are discussed in detail.
