Statistics and Ethics in Medical Research

Ethics is an essential component of biomedical research. Statistical methods for design and analysis are useful research tools, if used appropriately. The role of statistics starts from the designing of the study to the publication of results. Inappropriate and inadequate research design can produce results which are not valid and can mislead the stakeholders and can have dangerous implications at large. In epidemiological research, lot of patient resources would be wasted due lack of appropriate statistical methods. The statistical methods for a research are of a great ethical concern, which are discussed in this article.
