Undertaking health projects has a strong student centred, active learning component. A feedback collected on the process of undertaking these projects would be useful in improving the project-based learning by the students.
To assess the students’ satisfaction and identify the scopes of improvement in the process of undertaking health projects.
Students’ feedback was collected using semi-structured pilot-tested online survey questionnaire to identify students’ satisfaction, major factors affecting the process as well as suggestions for further improvement.
Students at large are satisfied and perceive the experience as useful and important. Their perceptions regarding the subject, department and the faculties have changed positively. Facilitators’ role, inputs, understanding as well as quality of follow-up process were rated >3.5 on a scale of 1–5. Majority perceive that they have learnt many skills, and their retrospective self-evaluation shows significant improvement. Sticking to prepared timeline, time management, consideration of exams, regular follow-up and addressing basics of research at appropriate time are important factors affecting timely completion and perceived quality of the research.
Students are generally satisfied with the process of undertaking health projects. Factors identified through feedback can be incorporated and evaluated further.
