Currently didactic lectures are the most favourite method of imparting knowledge in the undergraduate curriculum. But it's now desirable to make some change in it to make learning more fruitful. Here, we have try to introduce some enhancement techniques in the teaching-learning which help them to develop their self-learning approach.
Find out effect of learning enhancement techniques by perception of students.
This study was carried out in first year MBBS (2014–2015). It was done only for eight core topics of Abdomen and Head and neck. During routine lecture of large group, Think-Pair-Share, Problem base learning (PBL), Buzz session and Snow balling techniques were used. The feedback questionnaire was given to see the effectiveness of these techniques as perceived by the students. Students were asked to give feedback on the most effective method too.
PBL was the most preferred method and almost 51% of students preferred it. Buzz group was second (34%) most preferred method.
PBL was the most preferred method amongst four methods we have used here. More than 95% of students feel that we have to incorporate one of the methods always.
