Majority of the fresh medical graduates are not able to document injury report properly. Currently, there is no uniformity in the proforma of injury report. Astandard validated module and uniform proforma for injury report needs to be developed for Indian Medical Graduates to acquire competency.
To develop structured and validated injury report module. To study student's perception on structured injury report module. To assess learning of students for structured injury report module.
Teaching-learning module was prepared and components of injury report were finalised and validated by faculties in Forensic Medicine. Teaching-learning methods developed in the modules were interactive sessions, practical sessions, role play and OSPE. The assessment methods used were SAQs, MCQs and OSPE and injury report writing to cover all the domains of learning. Programmatic evaluation for reaction and learning was done. Students’ feedback on T-L, assessment methods, and old and structured injury report was taken on Likert's Scale.
The study showed significant learning (p<0.00) for cognitive domain. Programme evaluation for reaction and learning was successful as the reaction was rated >4 on Likert's Scale by 98.33% students, and 85% students scored >70% marks for psychomotor domain. Majority students strongly liked the module and documented the injury report properly.
The module's perception was encouraging and lead to significant learning improvement of the students for all the domains. The module is in line with the CBME and therefore, similar module on other core areas can be developed and implemented.
