Medical Council of India (MCI) has introduced a new MBBS Curriculum, titled “Competency based UG Curriculum for the Indian Medical Graduates.” from August 2019 across India.
To assess the knowledge and perception of medical faculties towards implementation of new MBBS Curriculum.
Three days'Workshop was conducted at Government Medical College of Uttrakhand in the presence of MCI observer. A total of 28 medical faculty members along with 5 resource faculties participated in this workshop. Feedback score was given by participants before and after the session. An open ended Questionnaire was also filled by the participants on the last day of the workshop to assess their perception regarding the new Curriculum Implementation.
Participants perceived that the major barrier for implementation will be limited faculty members and limited infrastructure available at the medical college across India. Strong interdepartmental coordination along with clarification regarding internship period, internal assessment and topics of integration and alignment are necessary for proper implementation of the programme.
Effective implementation of new curriculum can only be done by regular monitoring, evaluation and resource allocation.
