The study on role of gender contribution in various operations of paddy cultivation has been carried out in Jammu district of J&K State during the year 2007. The results indicated that female labour contributed in all operations except ploughing, bunding, intercultural operations, weed control and irrigation whereas in FYM application female contributed significantly with their regression coefficient as 0.183 while as it was 0.087, 0.517 and 0.007 for threshing, cleaning and storage respectively. The male labour contributed with positive significance in sowing (0.061), harvesting (0.110), Ploughing (0.171), storage (0.036) and weed control (0.045). The overall regression coefficient both for male as well as female show positively significant contribution for sowing (0.520), harvesting (0.108), cleaning (0.011), ploughing (0.067), weed control (0.031) and irrigation (0.090).
