Abstract

In the present study, affectivity of using evaluation index for propagation of mulberry by cuttings has been assessed. Average E.I., representing all the characters under observation including survival (%), shoot length, root length and number proved a good single indicator of survival and later transplanting potential of particular genotype. Of the 25 genotypes studied, 14 genotypes with an E.I. of 50 and above indicate propagational advantage of these genotypes. Majority of the Indian varieties had above 50 E.I. No exotic variety could cross this number.
