Open pollinated seeds of Toona ciliata were collected from 50 trees from ten sites in Himachal Pradesh for genetic estimates and variability studies. It was observed that germination energy reflected maximum phenotypic (30. 84%) and genotypic (30.46%) coefficient of variation and 97.50 per cent heritability (broad sense) and 61.90 per cent genetic gain. Heritability on half sib family and individual plant basis was 84.14 per cent and 84.87 per cent respectively for leaf area, whereas, heritability for within-family selection was highest (84.42%) for the number of nodes. The total genetic gain of 247.98 per centand genetic gain of family selection of 153.94 per cent was recorded for collar diameter, whereas genetic gain of 107.58 percent for with in family selection was recorded for the number of nodes.
