Evaluation of some low cost materials as silkworm bed disinfectants

Silkworm is prone to a number of diseases during its larval ages. The mortality rates become very high if infection spreads. Disease control can only be affected by prophylactic use of certain chemical. The present paper details the affectivity of some low cost material including slaked lime, bleaching powder, formaline, copper sulphate etc. in controlling the disease. Formaline (1%) has been the cheapest material as compare to slaked lime and bleaching powder. The cost benefit over certain formulation in use is two to three folds.
