Evaluation of chilli germplasms against anthracnose (Colletotrichum capsicl) under field conditions

Abstract

Natural incidence of anthracnose of chilli (C. capsici) was recorded during kharif 2003 and 2004. Maximum percentage (43.37%) of die back incidence during 2003 was observed in Suryamukhi and minimum (27.77%) in CH-3, while the varieties like Pusa Jwala, Pant C-l and CH3 did not differ significantly on die back incidence. In 2004, maximum and minimum incidence, 45.93 and 26.66 per cent, was observed in Suryamukhi and Akashi, respectively, and it differed significantly. In 2003, maximum and minimum incidence of fruit rot infection varied from 41.83 (Suryamukhi) to 17.09 per cent (Akashi), whereas, in 2004 maximum intensity of fruit rot was observed in Suryamukhi (40.39%) and minimum in Akashi (17.51%). There was no significant variation infruit rot incidence among Bhangar, NS-1101, IR-8, Mocha Nilganj and CH-3.
