Abstract

A field experiment was conducted on sandy loam soil at Research Farm of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, during rabi seasons of 2002–03 and 2003–04. The treatments comprise of two sowing dates, D1-normal sown and D2-late sown in the main plot and 4 genotypes viz. PBW-34, PDW-233, WH-896 and PBW-343 in the sub plots evaluated under split plot design with three replications. Results revealed that variety PBW-343 recorded significantly more number of ear heads/m2, and higher grain and biological yield than all other varieties. Among dates of sowing, the early sown wheat showed significant increase in grain and biomass yield than late sown wheat.
