Abstract

Effect of Zycox (IHP-250C, a trade mark of Indian Herbs Ltd., Saharanpur) and AV/CPP/12 (a trade mark of M/s Dabur Ayurvet, Sahibabad) on the sporulation of oocysts obtained from chicks infected with different levels of Eimeria tenella was studied. It was observed that percent sporulation of oocysts was suppressed (i.e. fewer of them were sporulated) in comparison to oocysts obtained from unmedicated-infected chicks. There was no effect on sporulation time of oocysts between medicated and unmedicated groups. Reduced infectivity of sporulated oocysts was observed on the basis of lower lesion score, higher survivability and depressed oocysts production. Zycox and AV/CCP/12 caused reduction in the sporulation percentage of oocysts.
