Cobboldia elephantis larvae have been recorded from the stomach of a freeliving Indian elephant (Elephas maximus) during post-mortem examination at Chandaka Wildlife Division near Bhubaneswar. This appears to be the first report of this parasite from elephants of Orissa. The affected elephants showed the symptoms of vomition and was in a state of great abdominal discomfort lying near a water source before death.
