Rictularia sp. infection in a civet cat (Viverricula malaccensis)

Abstract

Rictularia sp., a spirurid was detected in the faeces of a civet cat. The males measured 7.5 mm to 10.5 mm (Av. 9.25 mm) and the females were 28 mm to 31.5 mm (Av. 30.35mm). Two rows of large thick spines were present on the cuticle in the sub-ventral aspect. The eggs were thick shelled and fully embryonated.
