Abstract

Clinical and haematological changes were observed in birds experimentally infected with Heterakis gallinarum. One-month old chicks infected with H. gallinarum eggs showed symptoms of emaciation, wasting, ruffled feathers, unthriftiness, diarrhoea on 6th, 7th, 8th week of infection. Haematological parameters revealed a decrease in haemoglobin, total erythrocyte count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, packed cell volume with an increased total leucocyte, lymphocyte and eosinophilic counts in experimentally infected birds.
