Epidemiological studies on Fasciola gigantica infection in sheep and goats were carried out in Uttaranchal state during January 2001 to December 2004. Faecal examination of 3569 sheep and 7506 goats revealed 3.87% and 2.62% infection, respectively. Peak prevalence of infection in sheep and goats of hill region was recorded in winters (2.60% sheep and 1.37% goats) while in tarai region highest prevalence in sheep was during rainy season (10.68%) and in goats during winter (4.24%). Prevalence of F. gigantica infection in Lymnaea auricularia snails was also recorded from different water bodies located in tarai region of Uttaranchal. The prevalence of infection in snails was highest in summer (10.49%) while it was lowest in winter (3.26%).
