Abstract

The 32 kDa merozoite surface antigen of Theileria annulata (Parbhani) has been characterized by using merozoites derived from differentiating macroschizont-infected bovine lymphoblast cell line. This molecule was found to be major polypeptide in extracts of both merozoites and piroplasms and was strongly detected by serum from an immune cow. The result indicated the presence of one genotype of major merozoite/piroplasm surface antigen in the Parbhani strain of T. annulata.
