Abstract

Prevalence of schistosomosis in 201 domesticated animals (50% of village population) of Pipariya village of Jabalpur district was judged by formal-ether and hatching methods, according to species, age and sex of the animals. It was highest in cattle (13.67%), followed by goats (10.52%) and least in buffaloes (2.3%). Adult animals were found to excrete maximum number of schistosome eggs while young and old minimum. Formal-ether method showed lower efficacy in young and old animals in comparison to the hatching method.
