Giardia intestinalis infection was recorded from 187 calves and adult cattle in a survey conducted in Punjab. The parasite was detected from 16.04 and 8.64% from 106 diarrhoeic and 81 non-diarrhoeic animals, respectively. The parasite was present in all the herds. All the samples found positive by wet mount were also found positive using trichrome staining technique. The prevalence of the infection peaked in young calves between 1–6 months of age in the diarrhoeic and 6 months to 1 year of age in the non-diarrhoeic groups (34.78 and 18.18%, respectively).
