Epidemiological survey conducted for cutaneous leishmaniosis in Taif region of Saudi Arabia during years 1999 -2004 showed endemic pockets. In Taif region, the total number of cases were 207 in 1999 which came down to 81 in 2001 and ranged around 100 during 2001–2004. Problematic districts are AL Garya, Turbah, Missan, Hadad and Rania. From these districts 159 cases were recorded in 1999. Frequent fogging reduced the cases to 51 in 2001. From 2001 onwards infection showed stability and cases ranged from 51 to 64 during the years 2001–2004. In this region, there are numerous hiding places which are very difficult and out of reach.
