Moxidectin was evaluated for its anti-nematodal efficacy and persistent activity against benzimidazole resistant Haemonchus contortus from sheep maintained at organized farms in Rajasthan. The moxidectin (@ 0.2 mg kg−1 BW, S/C) was found 100% effective against resistant strain of H. contortus on faecal egg count reduction test and exhibited persistent activity by preventing the establishment of new infection upto 45 days post-treatment. The use of moxidectin in regions where the favourable climate for dissemination of exogenous stages is short led to reduction in pasture contamination and ensured minimum anthelmintic intervention in management of worms, thus decreasing selection pressure for anthelmintic resistance.
