Prevalence of parasitic infections in ruminants and pigs, maintained in and around semi arid Jaipur, was investigated from Oct., 2006 to June, 2009. In all, a total of 480 coprological and 240 blood samples were microscopically examined. An overall prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites was 43.95% and haemoprotozoan parasites were prevalent in 15% animals. Infection with strongyles predominated (24.79%) followed by Eimeria sp., ascarids, Strongyloides sp., Moniezia sp., Trichuris sp. and amphistomes. Of the 172 blood samples of cattle examined, infection with Anaplasma sp. predominated (11.04%) followed by Theileria sp. (8.13%) and Babesia sp. (2.32%). Concurrent infections with Theileria and Anaplasma sp. were not uncommon (1.74%). In buffaloes, infection with only Babesia sp. was prevalent (2.94%).
