Clinical, haemato-biochemical and therapeutic studies on canine babesiosis in Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh

Clinical, haemato-biochemical and therapeutic studies were made on 18 clinical cases of canine babesiosis. These cases were out of 1570 cases of dogs brought to the College Veterinary clinics, thus representing an incidence of 1.15 per cent. The most common clinical symptoms were anorexia, lethargy, recurrent fever, pale mucus membrane and emesis. Therapy comprising two doses of diminazine aceturate @ 5 mg/kg b.wt. intramuscularly at 48 hr interval and supportive therapy including fluid administration, haematinics, liver tonic and multivitamins proved effective in 83% cases.
