Abstract

The hematological, biochemical changes and gammaglobulin level due to Cryptosporidium spp. infection in bovines was studied in the present study. The haematological observations revealed that cryptosporidiosis induced marked decrease in haemoglobin, packed cell volume and there was an increase in total leucocyte count. Differential leucocyte count revealed that there was marked lymphocytopaenia, neutrophilia and monocytosis. Biochemical studies revealed that there was a reduction in total serum protein as well as albumin-globulin ratio. A significant decrease in gammaglobulin levels in both adults and calves infected with Cryptosporidium spp. was also noticed.
