Presence of pinworms and ectoparasites are major problems of both specific pathogen free (SPF) as well as conventional laboratory animal facilities. In the present study infection with pinworm Syphacia and the mite Myocoptes were recorded. We successfully carried out treatment of combined infection of mites as well as Syphacia obvelata using itin (ivermectin) via drinking water at the dose rate of 3 mg/kg for one week followed by dipping all animals in 4 ml of Butox (Deltamethrin) per liter of luke warm water once a week for three consecutive weeks.
