Immuno-biochemical and blood cellular responses of haemorrhagic septicaemia vaccination in simultaneously and previously (80 days before vaccination) Trypanosoma evansi infected buffalo calves were conducted. The buffalo calves were divided into three groups. Group A (n=3) were previously (80 days before primary vaccination with HS vaccine) infected with T. evansi (1x107 tryps.calf−1; sc). Group B (n=3) buffalo calves were infected with T. evansi (1x107 tryps.calf−1; sc) on the day of vaccination with HS vaccine. Two healthy control calves given only HS vaccine were kept in group C. Group A animals were given antitrypanosomal quinapyramine prosalt @ 6.66 mg.kg−1 28 days post primary vaccination (PPV). All the animals were given booster vaccine 21 days PPV. Immuno-biochemically significant increase in Immunoglobin (Ig) values in uninfected vaccinated buffalo-calves was seen after day 28 PPV. Where as in the previously T. evansi infected group the significant increase in Ig was observed on day 14 PPV. In simultaneously infected and vaccinated group (B) the albumin to Ig values were lower as compared to uninfected vaccinated and previously infected vaccinated treated group. In previously T. evansi infected and vaccinated group lymphocytosis was significant from day 14 PPV. In infected and simultaneously vaccinated group lymphocytosis was followed by lymphopenia.
