Abstract

Caecal coccidiosis remains a leading protozoal disease causing tremendous losses to the poultry industry. There are reports of Eimeria spp. developing resistance to the traditional coccidiostats. The present investigation was undertaken to study the efficacy of herbal coccidiostats ‘Coxynil’ in combating coccidiosis in broiler flock. Results showed complete recovery of morbid birds within 10 days after treatment. Oocysts shedding in faecal material and sporulation percentage showed dramatic reduction after this treatment.
