Abstract

Soluble oocyst antigen of Eimeria tenella and E. necatrix were used in indirect ELISA for testing 102 sera of birds vaccinated with a live quadrivalent vaccine against coccidiosis (Livacox Q) and 62 sera from non-vaccinated birds from broiler breeder farms in Bangalore district. Out of the 102 vaccinated birds, 90 serum samples (88.23%) and 86 serum samples (84.31%) were found to be positive for Eimeria tenella and Eimeria necatrix antibodies, respectively. In vaccinated birds it was noted that the titer of antibodies steadily increased with age up to 8 weeks. A good correlation was established between the litter oocyst density and antibody titres of ELISA.
