Sarcoptic mange was diagnosed in a flock of 15 Bunner sheep from a well organized farm in Mumbai with a complaint of chronic dermal lesions on muzzle and severe itching. An overall infection rate of 46.66% was recorded in the flock. Microscopically, section of skin from dermal lesions of affected sheep revealed hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis and acanthosis with many tiny tunnels. Disease was diagnosed on the basis of skin scraping and histopathological examination of affected skin. Treatment with ivermectin (200 μg/kg b. wt. SC) resulted in overall improvement and disappearance of skin lesions.
