Abstract

Hepatozoonosis was diagnosed in 3 cases of dogs presented to Small Animal Clinics of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Services Complex, GADVASU, Ludhiana from August 2008 to April 2009 based on the gametocytes found inside the leukocytes in blood films. The dogs infected with Hepatozoon canis had microcytic normochromic anemia and neutrophilic leucocytosis with nuclear deviation of neutrophils to left. Serum biochemical values including BUN, creatinine, TP and ALP was elevated and the albumin was decreased.
