A study was carried out to know the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites of backyards pigs in and around six villages of Dimapur district of Nagaland. A total of 117 animals were screened as per the standard coproscopic methods. The recorded parasites belonged mostly to the strongyle group; along with Ascaris suum, Strongyloides ransomi, Ascarops sp. Prevalence of Eimeria species was also recorded. Results of the study revealed that in the group I (pigs< 3 months old), the incidence of overall, mixed and single infection was 81.6%, 32.6%, and 48.9%, whereas in group II (pigs > 3 months old), it was 61.7%, 20.5% and 41.1%, respectively. Village wise data showed maximum percentage of parasitic infection in Diezephe, (92%), followed by Bade (75%), Dhansiripar, (71.4%), Molvom (64.7%), Jharnapani (55.5%) and Seithekima village (54.1%).
