Abstract

A female dog aged one and half years, showing clinical signs of loose, watery diarrhoea, anorexia, rough skin coat and dermatitis along with pruritus was brought to the Department of Veterinary Parasitology, Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur in the month of June, 2011. Examination of faecal sample of the dog revealed presence of characteristic operculate eggs of Diphyllobothrium latum. Skin scrapings were also collected and examined which showed presence of eggs and adult mites of Demodex spp. Differential leucocyte count (DLC) showed marked eosinophilia. Praziquantel and doramectin at the dose rate of 5 mg/kg and 200 μg/kg body weight, respectively were given.
