Abstract

Study on epidemiology of coccidiosis in domestic goats (Capra hircus) of Marathwada region was conducted during October, 2005 to September, 2007 by examining 1663 faecal samples of goats. Results revealed 689 samples as positive for Eimeria species with overall prevalence of 41.43 percent. Prevalence of 43.26% was observed in the goats maintained on the farms with weaning of kids, optimum density of stocking per unit area, maintained on pucca floor and in addition to grazing, additional ration in the form of concentrate feed. Slightly lower prevalence of 35.01 was observed in the goats of which were reared totally under the free range system (soily floor), kids suckling with higher density of stocking without concentrate except grazing. It was noted that intensive system of management conducive for coccidiosis.
