Abstract

The present study was conducted on gastrointestinal (GI) parasitic infections in 223 dogs presented at Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex (TVCC), College of Veterinary Science and A.H., Junagadh from January 2013 to December 2014. The overall prevalence of GI parasites in dogs was 21.97%. The detected parasites with their frequencies in pet dogs were Ancylostoma spp. (11.65%), Isospora spp. (3.58%), Toxocara canis (2.24%), Taenia spp. (1.79%), Dipylidium caninum (1.34%), Spirocerca lupi (0.89%) and Spirometra spp. (0.44%). A significant difference (p < 0.05) in overall prevalence of GI parasitic infections, between the pure-and mixed breed, among the different seasons and age groups were recorded. Sex did not significantly affect the prevalence ofparasites.
