Equine ocular setariosis resulting in corneal opacity is commonly caused by Setaria digitata and S. equina. Infected animals usually exhibit of lacrimation, photophobia, corneal opacity, conjunctivitis and loss of vision. This paper describes ocular setariosis and its surgical management in a horse. Ocular examination revealed, swirling movement of the worm in aqueous humour of the anterior chamber. Paracentesis of anterior chamber was performed for successful removal of intraocular parasite through dorsal corneal stab incision. Parasitological examination identified the worm as S. digitata. The infected horse was treated with ivermectin @ 200 μg/kg b.w. orally through feed to avoid post-operative recurrence.
