Abstract

Five Persian cats from Kannur district of Kerala were presented with symptoms of pruritus, alopecia and dry lusterless rusty hair coat with salt and peppered appearance. Microscopical examination of skin scrapings revealed the presence of different life stages of Lynxacarus radovskyi mites. The cats were treated with ivermectin injection @ 300 μg/kg body weight and fipronil spray (0.25%) weekly for one month. The cats were found fully cleared of mite infestation after one month of treatment.
