Abstract

Osmanabadi goats were examined for lameness in a private goat farm in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu, India. Out of five lame goats, two had tick infestations in the interdigital space and axial line of right hind limbs. The tick was identified as Hyalomma isaaci. Dried blood clots, oozing of thin fluid and necrosed tissue debris in hoof was observed on the site of attachment of ticks. It was concluded that while investigating lameness in sheep, tick infestation must be considered as a differential diagnosis.
