Abstract

The objective of present study was to evaluate ameliorating potential of methanolic extract of Ajuga macrosperma(MEAM) against oxidative stress induced following exposure to cyclophosphamide in Wistar rats. Immunosuppression were developed in Wister rat which leads to oxidative stress. The animals were divided in eight groups comprising six rats each. Lipid peroxidation, GSH, SOD and catalase levels were estimated in blood and tissues to assess the status of stress in animals. Cyclophosphamide(CP) led to oxidative stress in the form of significant (P<0.05) increase in LPO status of RBCs and tissues and significant (P<0.05) reduction in reduced glutathione, SOD and CAT enzyme activity in CP treated rat in comparison to control group but simultaneous treatment with MEAM significantly caused restoration of these parameters towards normalcy in dose dependent manner.
