The present study was undertaken to investigate the in vitro antibacterial activitiy of ethanolic extracts of leaf, bark, flower and fruit pulp of cassia fistula. Antibacterial activities were assessed using the well diffusion assay, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). Bacteria tested were Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC 7443) and Escherichia coli (MTCC 2991). At 100mg/ml, the highest average inhibition zone was recorded in ethanolic bark extract against S. aureus (MTCC 7443) (18.67±0.33mm) and E. coli (MTCC 2991) (16.67±0.33). MIC values of different parts of C. fistula against E.coli were in the range of 0.78–1.56 mg/ml. MIC values of different parts of C. fistula against S.aureus was 6.25mg/ml.
