Abstract

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the in-vitro anthelmintic efficacy of various extracts viz. cold aqueous extract (CAE), crude methanolic extract (CME) and crude diethyl ether extract (CDE) obtained from seeds of Pongamia glabra at concentration of 2.5, 5, 10 and 20mg/ml against adult Haemonchus contortus. The time and dose dependent mortality of the worms were recorded. Hundred percent mortality of the worms were observed against each treatment 12 hrs. post-exposure at all tested concentrations. The maximum (95%) corrected mortality was recorded at 20mg/ml followed by 90%, 85% and 80% at 10, 5 and 2.5 mg/ml concentrations, respectively. CME of P. glabra showed average highest (95%) corrected mortality followed by CAE (90%), CP (85%) and lowest (80%) with CDE.
