The aim of this study was to investigate the histological alterations in testes of rats due to cyclophosphamide-induced toxicity. Cyclophosphamide toxicity was induced by intraperitoneal injection on 9th and 16th day (100 mg/kg). The rats in the standard treatment group were administered with levamisole (2.5 mg/kg orally, every 2 days for 21 days) with cyclophosphamide. At the end of study, testes were collected for histopathological examination. Cyclophosphamide toxicity group showed atrophied seminiferous tubules, widened intertubular space with severe hypocellularity and degenerative changes in seminiferous epithelium and showed ameliorative effect on histology of testis. Administration of levamisole along with cyclophosphamide had histological changes of lesser degree. The results indicated that administration of cyclophosphamide caused marked alterations in testicular tissue in rats. Pretreatment of levamisole showed protective effect against cyclophosphamide-induced changes in testes.
