The present study was conducted to assess the effect on hematological and biochemical parameters of poultry following multiple dose oral administration of amprolium. It was conducted in 12 White Leg Horn poultry birds 3 in each group weighing 1±0.5 kg. 30mg.kg 1 of amprolium was administered orally for 5 days (multiple doses) at every 24h interval in poultry birds. Blood samples were collected at 48h, 72h and 96h post administration of amprolium. All birds remained clinically normal throughout the study period. No significant changes were observed in value of PCV, hemoglobin, TEC and TLC. No significant changes were observed in the estimated biochemical parameters (AST, ALT, Glucose, Cholesterol, Creatinine, Urea, Total Protein, Albumin and Globulin). On the basis of these results, amprolium administered at the dosage used in this study protocol does not cause any significant negative effect in treatment group. So we can conclude that amprolium can be given safely without causing any adverse effects in poultry birds.
