The present study was conducted to know the ameliorative action of lactoferrin on Hypoglycaemic and Hypolipidemic effects in the Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) model of male C57BL/6 mice induced by administration of high-fat diet (HFD) + CCl4 (0.5 mg/kg, mixed in olive oil) twice a week via intraperitoneal route for 6 weeks. The results indicated that the levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, creatinine and BUN were significantly (P<0.05) increased whereas the HDL-cholesterol was significantly decreased in Group 2. In Group 4 lactoferrin @ 300 mg/kg body weight significantly normalized the elevated blood glucose level, body weight and restored the biochemical parameters towards normal level. Treatment with lactoferrin as well as standard simvastatin significantly normalized the altered parameters towards normal. Findings of the present study indicated that lactoferrin possessed both hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activities.
