Abstract

The Indian Ayurvedic System of Medicine exploits a diverse range of medicinal plants. Neolamarckia cadamba is one such medicinal plant that has been reported for various medicinal properties and has the greatest therapeutic significance in Ayurveda. In this article, the bark of Neolamarckia cadamba was collected, and methanolic extraction was carried out by Soxhlet apparatus along with qualitative analysis of bark extract for the presence of various phytochemicals and detailed analysis by using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry technique (GC-MS). The qualitative phytochemical analysis of the methanolic extract of stem bark of Neolamarckia cadamba found the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, proteins, amino acids, carbohydrates, saponins, phytosterols, resins, tannins, glycosides, phenolic compounds. And the GC-MS analysis report revealed the presence of a total of 31 bioactive compounds.
